Neuropathy Research Brief · August 28, 2026

A review of 11 observational studies estimated that about one in four people studied with chemotherapy-related neuropathy reported a fall. Estimates varied widely, partly because researchers followed people for different lengths of time. This is not a personal risk prediction or a fall rate for every type of neuropathy.

What this means for patients

A separate eight-week study in 50 people with diabetes and neuropathy found better blood-sugar results with selenium than with placebo. It did not establish improvement in sensation, walking, or nerve structure. Those results do not justify routinely taking selenium for neuropathy.
